If I could give this clinic 0 stars, I would.
My experience was incredibly disappointing from start to finish. Before my dog’s surgery, I repeatedly asked what the absolute maximum cost could be because I wanted to be financially prepared. I was given an amount, only for the price to change multiple times afterward.
What made matters even worse is that they did not complete my dog’s surgery, yet they still refused to honor the original pricing discussions.
During my dog’s first scheduled surgery appointment, he spent the entire day in a cage, the surgery was never performed, and no one even bothered to call and let me know. I had to find out myself after waiting all day. That level of communication—or lack thereof—is completely unacceptable when you’re trusting someone with a beloved family member.
After that first experience, I already had serious concerns, but I gave them another chance. I deeply regret not listening to my instincts. I have never experienced this level of poor communication, inconsistent pricing, and lack of professionalism from any veterinary clinic.
If you value transparency, communication, and quality care for your pet, I strongly encourage you to consider other options. I sincerely wish I had
I was a client here for 7 years, and I’ve watched this place go downhill ever since Dr. Beer retired.
Since the rebrand and staff turnover, most of the front-facing staff have been noticeably short and rude with communications. I have to believe there are still people on the team who care about the animals, but that hasn’t been my experience.
In mid-April, my 18-year-old cat Grover was diagnosed with a mammary gland tumor. I brought her back in for an x-ray a couple weeks later, as they recommended to check whether the cancer had spread. I was told I’d hear back with results in a couple of days. No one called. A week later, I had to follow up myself to get the results.
Two weeks later, I brought her in again for her monthly arthritis injection and mentioned a new issue: bad breath and drooling. I asked if the doctor, who I could see was right there, could take a look at her mouth while we were already there — I said I was happy to wait. They were rude and said it would not be possible since I was only scheduled for the vaccine.
When I asked them to at least see if there were any notes about her mouth from the last visit, they went through the file and said the doctor had noted gum disease — something no one had told me about. 🥺
The following week, Grover stopped being able to eat due to her mouth pain, and I had to say goodbye to her. I’m not saying this practice caused that; she was old, and it was likely coming regardless. But failing to inform me of their finding so I could have at least tried to do something about it was unprofessional & neglectful.
A little more compassion for a longtime client going through the hardest month with her pet would not have been too much to ask.
I wouldn’t recommend this place, at least not for a cat.
Rest in peace, my sweet angel ❤️
We used to have good experiences here. Dr. Beer was great and felt like the prices were affordable.
However, something has definitely changed recently and it is impossible to get anyone to follow up regarding care, test results, appointment requests, etc. We had a cat experiencing some very concerning symptoms and it took months of repeated calls to try to get tests scheduled. To the point where we made an appointment for an ultrasound via a friend without the help of Care Pet at all. The illness was ultimately not treatable but the extra weeks of delay could have definitely been detrimental if it had been something curable. We called asking for their opinion on euthanasia at this point and we never received a response to our voicemail. We had to keep calling back until we eventually got someone on the phone to get their opinion. The entire experience left us feeling like they didn't care about our dying pet.
Recently we've tried to schedule appointments for new pets in the home and reception never returns voicemails or messages on their website. We've moved onto another vet office at this time.
EDIT 4/15/26: You wouldn’t have my name in your system because the account is under my husband’s name. We don’t share a last name.
You’ve also recently started having an AI bot repeatedly call me to schedule appointments for my deceased pets. One of which was put to sleep in your office. The use of an AI bot over hiring a human receptionist who’s capable of doing the job at the volume you require is gross.
I brought my dogs to this clinic for about two years. While Dr. Beer was there, I felt they received attentive, quality care at a fair cost. When he retired, I began noticing significant changes.
The condition of the clinic declined — there was a persistent, strong odor of soiled litter that made visits uncomfortable. I’ve been to many veterinary offices with clinic cats and have never experienced anything like that.
More concerning was how my dogs were handled. One of my dogs has anxiety with nail trims, so I followed the clinic’s instructions to administer trazodone (three doses the night before and three the morning of). After doing exactly as directed, they completed one dog’s nails but declined to do the other, stating they “didn’t have time to deal with her” This was especially frustrating since the appointment had been scheduled in advance specifically for that purpose and my dog had been heavily sedated unnecessarily based on their instructions.
Later, both of my dogs needed cyst removals. I was quoted over $3,000 and felt pressure to proceed quickly. Trusting my instincts, I sought a second opinion.
At another privately owned clinic, I was advised the cysts were not urgent. I scheduled their procedures alongside dental cleanings and received care for both dogs — including multiple cyst removals and a biopsy — for under $1,500 total.
Since then, I’ve continued care elsewhere and have had consistently positive experiences.
Recently, I received an announcement that this clinic is now affiliated with CareVet. After doing my own research, I learned that CareVet operates under a private equity-backed model. While every clinic is different, what I’ve read and learned about private equity owned veterinary clinics raised concerns for me as a pet owner.
Because of that, I would strongly encourage others to seek second opinions, ask questions, and do thorough research — especially when it comes to ownership structure and how it may impact care decisions and costs.
After these experiences, I personally chose to move my pets’ care to a locally owned clinic where I felt their well-being — not just the invoice — was the priority.
[Severely overdue]UPDATE: They’re open and in business. Just a roof leak issue. Though, we are sad to hear Dr. Beer has retired — through we wish him well! Cheers to a happy retirement!
Arrived to my appointment to see that Care Pet Clinic has abruptly closed without warning “until further notice.”
I received an appointment reminder on Monday for today’s appointment (Wednesday). Imagine my surprise to arrive to their doors locked. No call or email to notify me that I’ll need to find a new Vet and to save me the trip.
I feel bad that this is what prompted me to write a review because I’ve had nothing but great experiences with Dr. Beer. Dr. Beer has been caring for our Husky, Dexter, since he was a pup and has done an excellent job helping us navigate the occasional health challenge for Dex, who is now 14.
I hope this is temporary, but as of now there’s no telling.
